Have you ever had your hair done at a beauty school? Did you know that you can get your hair shampooed, conditioned, cut, styled, permed, colored, or have just about anything else you can think of done to it at a beauty school for about half what you pay at your favorite salon? Maybe less, and that’s including a tip.
Did you know you could also have a facial, a manicure, a pedicure, or a variety of other beauty treatments for very reasonable prices? Now, before you decide that it might be scary to have a student do your hair or nails, give it a little more thought. An instructor observes the student. The instructor will check the student’s work throughout the process and again at the end. The student is evaluated and graded on his or her performance, from customer service to the way your hair looks. Doesn’t this give beauty students a little more incentive to do a good job?
I have yet to see a beauty student gabbing away on the phone while cutting someone’s hair, but I’ve seen many “professional” stylists do that and more. Another benefit of visiting a beauty school is that the students are up to date on all the latest styles, while some corner beauty shops get a little stale over time.
Maybe you have tried one of those storefront haircut shops, because they offer discount prices. Doing so is a good way to save money on haircuts and other treatments, but you might find that you prefer the service at a beauty school. It’s definitely worth checking into.
Also, check into purchasing your favorite hair products from the beauty school instead of from the salon. You can find many of the same or similar products, but you will be able to purchase them at a greater discount.
