Visiting Beautiful Alaska

The state of Alaska is located in the northernmost and largest part of the country. Reaching out into the Artic Ocean, this state is divided from Russia by the Bering Strait. In addition, Alaska boasts one of the longest rivers in the entire North American continent called the Yukon. By the 1890s, the Klondike gold rush occurred, which doubled the population in Alaska’s capital. Then by 1900 during the peak of the gold rush era, over $22 million of gold was panned. However, production of gold stopped in 1966, by which time $220 million of gold had been panned over the years!

Today, Alaska is a vast land with some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Because of this, people vacation there often. With an abundance of wildlife, you would likely see grizzly bear or humpback whales. Without doubt, traveling through Alaska is like no other place on earth, offering diversity of landscape and the adventure of a lifetime. Some people will visit Alaska to hike, backpack, or camp.

However, other favorite activities include sea kayaking where you can get up-close to all types of sea life, guided glacier tours, or, enjoy a day trying your own hand panning for gold. Of course, one of the things Alaska is most famous for is the King salmon fishing. With more than 586,000 square miles of gorgeous land, you will fall in love with all Alaska has to offer.

Most people who have spent time in Alaska will tell you that when rating this part of the world on a scale of one to ten, it would receive a 20 or better. This grand destination takes people on a personal journey, helping them forget about the craziness at home. Alaska is not just beautiful but peaceful and the people are warm and hospitable. When trying to decide on your next family vacation, you might think about going to Alaska. A trip there is educational, providing your kids with an experience that will be cherished for life.

During the day, you can take an ocean day cruise, which is available in many areas of Alaska. Some of the destinations to enjoy include Prince William Sound, Glacier Bay, and Kenai Fjords. If you want to see the dramatic mountain scenery, tidewater glaciers, and wildlife, this type of opportunity is highly recommended.
