Visiting Knott’s Berry Farm

Everyone has a favorite childhood memory. Mine is visiting Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm in California. Although this “farm” originally started out as a rented 20 acres, today Knott’s Berry Farm covers 120 acres in Buena Vista. Known as the first theme park in the United States and the 12-most visited in the country, you and the kids will have a ball.

One of the things I remember most about Knott’s Berry Farm was the chicken. In fact, the restaurant on-site serves up to 4,000 dinners every Sunday, which is a way of paying homage to the pioneering spirits of the Old West. While my grandmother’s chicken was to die for, I have to admit that chicken dinners at Knott’s Berry Farm had her beat.

I also loved going through the Ghost Town, which was actually the first of the park’s six themed areas. In fact, we were riding the train, just having a good time when we were ambushed by train robbers. They came into the passenger area of the train with guns blazing and since I was young, I remember being a little unsure of the whole experience. However, it must have been great since I remember it so vividly. We made our way through the Gold Trails Hotel, took a ride on the Timber Mountain Log Ride, and the Calico Mind ride.

While there, you can also visit Fiesta Village, which is a wonderful “town” that honors the Spanish heritage. Opening in 1975, this was the third theme park to be opened in Knott’s Berry Farm. Of course, you cannot miss the Roaring 20’s park, which is home to the Corkscrew, a wild and crazy roller coaster, the worlds first looped coaster. Then in 1983, the farm created something extraordinary for the kids known as Camp Snoopy.

At Camp Snoopy, children will have massive fun while walking around the six-acre theme park. Some of the rides include whitewater rafting on Bigfoot Rapids and Indian Trails, all part of the Wild Water Wilderness. All of this is exciting and fun but you can be sure there is much more. For instance, the country’s only brick-by-brick replica of Independence Hall was completed, along with a perfect replica of the famous Liberty Bell. The entire visit is something you will not forget, possibly creating new childhood memories for your children.
