When the Ensign Magazine arrives each month, a full page is devoted to the message that we as visiting teachers should deliver to our assigned sisters. This issue, however, does not have such a page. Instead, we are encouraged to read the magazine and determine for ourselves which article we feel is most appropriate for our sisters, or which one appeals to us most.
The magazine offers many inspirational choices. I mention just a few of them here.
“He Lives! The Witness of Latter-Day Prophets” features a quote from each of our prophets, testifying of their knowledge of the divinity of Jesus Christ and His role in our eternal salvation.
“Who is Jesus Christ?” is an article by Boyd K. Packer examining the identity of Jesus Christ and His role here on earth and in Heaven. We learn about Christ’s humility, the Atonement, the need for the Atonement, and our free agency.
David A. Edwards shares with us the many names of Jesus Christ in “I Am the Way.” He is the Bread of Life. He is the Light of the World. He is the Vine and the Good Shepherd. All of these symbols remind us of Him and His purpose in coming to earth.
In “Faith in Jesus Christ,” Russell M. Nelson discusses the amazing intricacies of the human body and bears his testimony that such a creation could only be divine.
“The Atonement of Jesus Christ” is presented to us by Jeffrey R. Holland and tells us of the great and overwhelming love our Savior showed to us by allowing Himself to be crucified for our sins. He says, “The Atonement of the Only Begotten Son of God is the crucial foundation upon which all Christian doctrine rests and the greatest expression of divine love this world has ever been given.”
“The Living Christ” features a wide variety of artwork commemorating the life of Christ from artists such as Greg Olsen, Robert T. Barrett, Simon Dewey and Gary Smith. The pictures are accompanied by the testimony from the apostles given to us January 1, 2000.
As we read “Becoming a Witness of Christ” by D. Todd Christofferson, we learn how we can strengthen our testimonies so that we can better serve God by bearing witness of Jesus Christ.
This issue is so full of beautiful messages, no matter which you choose to deliver, your sisters will be fed and edified with a strengthening of their testimony of Jesus Christ and knowledge of His love for them.
