Oh, with the beginning of the new year it makes many think of things they want to do and wish they would’ve done last month. One of those things is volunteering, whether it is more in your child’s classroom, at a shelter or sending a care package. That’s right, even us military families send packages to those far away, even when our spouses are in the same house as us.
For those that want to send stuff over to the troops there are many websites that will tell you items to bring, some that will send care packages for them if you just donate so much money and even more for you to send some cheer to the children of the deployed. But for today we will focus on one website, it is called “Treats for Troops.” I remember seeing it a few months back but forgot all about it until I got an email reminding me about them.
Treats for Troops is very much like sending money for them to ship a package to a selected troop. You don’t even have to have a troops address, if you just feel like sending a care package to any troop that may need one. Trust me, these will make for some very happy military men/women. Sorry, won’t call them army, soldiers, marines, air force, or whatever name I’ve left off, but I’ll call them military men/women.
At this site you are given a choice of what type of package to send.
Snack attack- sweet and salty snacks, pretzels, peanuts, chips, cookies, brownies, etc
Thanks Soldier- Beef jerky, nuts, chips, cookies, etc
Fiesta- Chips and dip
The Big Bash- trial mixes, chips, cookies, brownies, etc
TFT Top 10- These are the favorites of all the things they offer.
Those are just a few things you can buy on the site for the military men/women, the prices will range from $20-$200 depending on what you get. You can also choose to adopt just one or a whole unit. Or maybe you can’t afford to ship him/her anything but want to add them on a list so someone else can, all this can be done on the site.
Granted this is just one site, but this one has been very well recommended time and time again and being a military spouse I have heard of the troops receiving items from this. So, if you are looking to start volunteering this year, this would be a great place to start. You don’t even need to show up anywhere, just send them some money or sign up a loved one to receive one of these packages. It’ll definitely make a military man/woman feel special getting something in the mail.
