Wallpaper originals is one of those web sites that I find myself going to frequently. The site offers thousands of free original desktops for your screen, and they are all compatible with either Mac or PC.
You won’t find the same old wallpapers here. While they do have a “people” category, it isn’t populated with dozed and dozens of scantily clad Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson poses. Instead, you may find an ultrasound of a baby, a native american woman looking regal against a mountain, or an adorable child in a field of heather. Nor will you find every black and white photograph made by Ansel Adams in a scenic category.
Scenic choices include Agriculture (divided further into crops, farm fields, structures and more) and Nature Made (flowers, lakes, mountains, waterfalls, trees, and even stones and fossils or fungus to chose from among additional choices I haven’t mentioned).
There is a nice supply or art and fantasy for fans, from pieces created by graphic artists to interesting sculptures captured by photographers.
My favorite section is the calendar section. There I can choose from a number of nice wallpapers that feature a built in calendar for the month. The calendar feature is really helpful when I am working and need the date fast. Yes, I could click on my computer’s calendar application, but why bother when it is right on my desktop, right?
One of the more creative categories is “Time of Day.” If you are a morning person like I am, you can choose from an array of sunrise images, including one striking photo taken from the cockpit of an airplane! Or if you are feeling romantic, try the sunset or nighttime images.
Foods are another cool category that is further subdivided into candy, fruit (two of the more gorgeous sub categories), mushrooms, nuts and seeds, vegetables and miscellaneous). Check out the images of bread if you really want a nice homey desktop.
