Want to Win $1 Million? The 43rd Pillsbury Baking Contest is Open For Entries!

Yep, you read it right! Pillsbury is holding their bi-annual cooking competition and the grand prize is $1 million!

If you’re not familiar with The Pillsbury Bake-Off—the contest originated in 1949, giving home cooks the opportunity to win cash and prizes for their recipes. For each contest, there are specific categories you can enter. The categories change from year to year. There is also a set list of ingredients you may choose from when preparing your recipes. You don’t have to use all of the ingredients, but you do have to use two. And this year, Pillsbury has changed things up a bit, creating a “List A” and “List B” for their ingredients. Entrants must use at least one of the “List A” ingredients when creating recipes for the Bake-Off.

I entered this contest last year, and sadly was not chosen as a finalist. But I’m back in gear and ready to submit my recipes this year. Conveniently, you may choose to enter the contest by mail or online. I loved entering electronically last year. After submitting my recipes, I was given a confirmation that they had been received.

My friend did get chosen for the contest last year, and had a blast. So if you’ve ever thought about entering a cooking contest, get out your old family recipe cards and start creating! Think about what you loved as a child. Is there a recipe your family ate throughout the years that you can adapt for the contest? How about ethnic dishes? Think outside the box a little, and remember to keep it SIMPLE. Complicated recipes are delicious, but they don’t seem to have much of a place in baking contests. Remember, you’re creating recipes that the home cook, who doesn’t have a lot of time, can prepare.

Good luck entering! And for all the contest rules, categories, and ingredient lists, click HERE.
