I talk a great deal about “balance” here in the home business blog. And, one of the big reasons I talk about it so much is that I know that I am constantly striving to create and experience some sort of balance between all the work I do in an attempt to support my family, my role as a single parent of three, and all the other roles, responsibilities (and some good stuff for myself thrown in there) that I try to inhabit in order to meet the challenges of daily living. I figure that since I am a rather ordinary sort, if I am wrestling with achieving balance, there must be other home business owners out there working on it too!
Besides time management and organization, and working to stay healthy and letting go of stressors, I could really use some good tips on how to achieve balance as an entrepreneur, parent, etc. My version of balance may be very different from someone who is part of a marriage or partnership, or someone who has more or less children than I do, or someone who makes more or less money. BUT, it seems like there should be some good tips that we could all share here to help us do a better job of keeping things in perspective and figuring out where to put our energy (and in what sort of doses) in order to make the most of our family, work, and business scenes.
Recently, a good friend and experienced home business operator told me that her secret was that she didn’t try to do everything every day. She has assigned specific tasks to specific days instead of trying to do a little bit of everything each day. I’m mulling this over, but not sure if I could let go enough to take advantage of that tip. Any other suggestions for how you all manage to achieve balance in your busy family, business, working and personal lives?!
