Warm weather is here, for me that means yard work, yard work and more yard work, with some home repairs thrown in for good measure.
All winter long the house has been closed up and those little things that needed to be repaired have had few months to turn into bigger repairs. Better get to them now before the heat of the summer sends you inside once again.
Take a look at all the things on the outside of your home that are painted, fences, shutters, door frames. Do they need touching up or maybe even a new coat of paint? This is the perfect time of year to do that, before it gets too hot.
What about your deck? Are there any loose boards or railings? Tighten those up and clean and seal the deck now for a beautiful outside experience all year long.
If you have a wooden fence check for loose slats and tighten them up. Replace any that are showing signs of rot. Power was and paint or seal the fence as well.
Caulk any openings around windows and doors. This will save you money on heat and air conditioning as well as help keep any little pests out.
Does your lawn have any bare spots? Patch them now and by summer you won’t even know they were bare. It’s also time for weed and feed. My lawn seems to be where all the weeds want to live so in addition to fertilizing I have to dig out the worst of the weeds. Try to get the dandelions out before they go to seed, otherwise next years weed problem will be worse.
This is just the beginning. As you walk around your home you will find lots of things that need attention, if you know where to look. Check your yard furniture and barbeque grill. Is your fire pit in need of a coat of paint as well.
Before the weather gets too hot is the perfect time for these outside chores.
