Wasting Time.

I know I do it, but I can’t help it. There are so many ways I can make better use of my time, but I find myself starting from scratch every project.

For example, if I have a mailing, it would not be hard for me to prepare everything in advance so all I have to do is put on the address, tape it shut and head out the door. I spend way too much time looking for each individual flyer I want to put into it, printing out things I can’t find, adding packing pellets, writing a note, etc.

Hostess packets would be so easy to mass produce. I should make at least 6, include catalogs, order forms, letters and everything else I need. Then all I have to do is print out invites, cut them up and mail them. (I make my own invitations so I can personalize them without having to write them all out. Plus, I save money).

Not making lists. I always forget to make lists, so then I have no clue what I need to do, though I know I need to do something! I just don’t know what. So I waste time trying to get together what project I need to work on next. I did make a list this morning, and writing this blog is on it. So I’m not wasting time now.

Internet and surfing. I love to visit message boards. I also moderate a few (volunteer) but can “justify” visiting them multiple times a day. In fact, I find myself peeking between projects versus just getting my work done. The internet can be a great place to lose track of time.

TV. Luckily I can say the only TV I watch anymore is cartoons and a few shows on Sunday night (have to watch Desperate Housewives). I did find by cutting back on the TV I watch, I gained a ton of time.

So how are you wasting your day today? Get back to work or go play with those kids! Family time is never a waste of time.
