Watch a Movie with Your Favorite Stars—For Real!

Not under the stars, but next to them. And I’m not talking about constellations. This is the real deal. For $25 you can sit besides Steve Martin for a screening of “The Jerk,” or munch on popcorn with Mike Myers during a showing of “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” or stare at the real Jodie Foster while viewing “The Silence of the Lambs.” It’s no joke. No cardboard cutouts. No appearances via satellite. We’re talking about actual living, breathing celebrities.

For one night only on October 1st the aforementioned stars along with Cameron Diaz, Annette Bening, Jim Carrey, Dustin Hoffman, Shirley MacLaine, Rita Moreno and Keanu Reeves will participate in “Target Presents American Film Institute Night at the Movies” at the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood.

According to event organizers, the goal is to give celebrities the chance to share some of their most famous films with loyal fans. Big wigs at the American Film Institute say the idea to bring filmmakers and fans together to celebrate American movies was the brainchild of AFI chief Bob Gazzale, who wanted to create an event that would honor “artists and their contributions to the rich cultural legacy of our nation.”

Tickets for the event are $25 per person and will be available beginning September 17, 2008.

The following is a rundown of the stars who will be attending the event and the films they will be viewing:

Sean Connery, “The Man Who Would Be King.

Annette Bening, “American Beauty.”

Jim Carrey, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.”

Cameron Diaz, “There’s Something About Mary.”

Jodie Foster, “The Silence of the Lambs.”

Dustin Hoffman, “Tootsie.”

Shirley MacLaine, “The Apartment.”

Steve Martin, “The Jerk.”

Rita Moreno, “West Side Story.”

Mike Myers, “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.”

Keanu Reeves, “The Matrix.”

And last, but certainly not least: Denzel Washington, “Glory.”
