Think you don’t need homeowners insurance? You may want to take a look at some of the videos created by the State Farm Insurance company. These videos show exactly how fast a fire can start, and the damage that it causes. A homeowners policy can help, in case your home, or something in it, catches on fire.
State Farm has created a series of videos that show exactly how much damage can be caused to your property due to fire. It is rather shocking how fast and fierce the fire becomes. These fires are set by professionals, and are done under carefully monitored circumstances. In some of these videos, the presence of fire professionals is obvious. In other words, don’t try this at home!
The videos can be found on YouTube, and were created as a form of advertisement. Naturally, an insurance company wants to find customers who will purchase insurance from them. Just watching these videos of State Farm setting things on fire makes me thankful that I have a homeowners insurance policy, just in case something catches fire in my home. One of the commercials shows a side by side example of the differences between the damage caused by fire in a home that has a fire alarm, and the damage caused in a home that has a fire alarm and a sprinkler system. State Farm is one of the insurance companies who may give you a discount on your homeowners insurance if you have a proper sprinkler system installed in your home. From what I can tell by watching the video, the sprinkler system makes quite an impact! You might want to check and see if your insurance company can give you a discount if you have a sprinkler system installed.
These videos also serve as a teaching tool, to help a person understand what not to do. There is a video of a Christmas tree that has caught fire, from the overloaded outlet that the Christmas lights were connected to. You can watch what happens when a space heater is located too close to a curtain. There is a video that shows how quickly a small fire on a stove can turn into a great big fire in the kitchen. I recommend taking a few minutes to watch these enlightening videos from State Farm.
