This game is so cool that Mom and Dad will want to join in. It’s a great way to cool off on a hot summer day. It’s hilarious to watch and even more fun to play. Be sure to roll the video camera and capture some of the funny moments, but watch out. You don’t want a fly “ball” to get your camera wet!
Fill up a bunch of water balloons and place them in a cooler, wading pool, or other container to keep them from getting broken. Make sure you have plenty. Don’t worry about having too many, because you can always find something to do with water balloons.
You will need a wiffle ball bat to play and something to mark off your bases.
Choose your teams and get ready to laugh.
Many times the “ball” will break right away. That’s okay, because it’s half the fun. Just get another one and keep going. A hit that causes a balloon to break can be considered a foul ball. The best way to hit it is to come up underneath with the bat and give it more of a push, instead of trying to smack it over the fence.
Sometimes the ball will break as soon as it is hit, and other times it will surprise you. A water balloon can do some crazy bouncing around.
One rule is that if someone catches the ball, and it’s obvious that he or she caught it, it still counts even if the balloon breaks. Otherwise, the game would never end. Another rule is that you can throw a balloon directly at someone who is trying to steal a base. If you hit him or her, that person is out.
Invite some other kids from the neighborhood to play along too. They will have a blast and they can teach their families to play.
