More than 54 inches of snow has fallen on our city so far this winter. Add that to the dozen or so days when the windchill readings were 20 to 50 degrees below zero (forcing schools and businesses to close), countless winter storm watches, and a blizzard warning, and you’ve got a weather pattern that has made even the heartiest Wisconsinite wish Old Man Winter would take a hike.
Personally, I can’t wait to escape these bone-chilling temperatures and spend some quality time with my family in Hawaii. And I can’t tell you how many people have begged me to take them along (in my suitcase). However, unless they can contort their bodies like that man on TV’s “That’s Incredible” did years back then I am suggesting they instead consider taking advantage of the following travel deals being offered to tropical locales such as Bermuda, Acapulco and Aruba.
ARUBA
If you are the type of person who is content to spend your entire trip lounging on a powder soft sand beach soaking up the sun then this all-inclusive getaway is right up your alley. Right now Vacation Outlet is offering a 20% discount off an all-inclusive five-night holiday at Tamarijn Aruba. For $1,129 you get a roundtrip flight from Boston and five-nights in a room with a huge balcony and views of the ocean. Considering the resort typically charges $200 per night per person, and your flight is included, this is a heck of a deal.
ACAPULCO
If you have been dreaming of taking a Mexican vacation since the season’s first snowfall this next deal might just be enough to get you online. Currently, Expedia if offering a flight from Chicago to Acapulco and four nights at deluxe Las Brisas Acapulco for a mere $890. The property is considered Acapulco’s signature hotel and is located on a hillside overlooking the bay. According to the website, Las Brisas is known for its tiered pink stucco facade, private pools, and 175 pink Jeeps rented exclusively to guests. The catch: the price is only valid on the February 14 departure. (Talk about the ultimate Love Day gift.)
BERMUDA
If you can’t get away on Valentine’s Day then consider escaping to Bermuda instead. Expedia is also offering a four-night deal priced at just $716 for travel through March 31, 2008. The cost includes roundtrip airfare from New York and lodging at exclusive Fairmont Hamilton Princess, a landmark property known for its top-notch facilities. The resort also offers a complimentary shuttle to the beach and golf course of its nearby sister hotel.
