Ways to get Multiple Coupons

One of the keys to being a successful couponer is getting as many like coupons as possible. This will allow you to purchase more than one product when a sale is really hot. This is also how you start building your stockpile.

There are a number of different ways you can obtain multiple coupons:

* Ask friends, neighbors, relatives and co-workers for their Sunday inserts. I always knew my children’s great grandmother clipped coupons, so I never thought to ask her for her Sunday Inserts. We got to talking one day and she mentioned that she only cuts a few out of the paper each week. I then asked her if I could have her leftovers. She was glad to send them down to me! Another great thing is that she lives in another town, so she gets lots of other coupons that I don’t get in my Sunday paper. So even if someone says they clip coupons, it doesn’t hurt to ask if they have any leftovers.

* Ask your newspaper carrier if he or she has any extra coupon booklets. The first time I asked my newspaper lady for her extras, she didn’t understand what I meant, and didn’t understand why I would want the same coupons. I told her that I trade coupons with friends and then she understood. If you get any weird looks when asking, just explain what you need and why.

* I have never personally tried Dumpster Diving, but I have heard great success stories of people who have. You can read about Dumpster Diving here: Dumpster Diving Diva!

* Sometimes people have Recycling Centers, and sometimes they will let you go through the recycled papers and look for coupons. Always ask for permission first, though.

* A lot of places like coffee houses, fast food restaurants and hotels have complementary newspapers, and most of the time they don’t care if you take the coupons, but always ask first to make sure.

* Check at your stores and gas stations the following Monday and ask if they have any extra papers left over. A lot of times the store will only need to send back the front page to get reimbursed for the ones they did not sell. They throw the rest of the paper away. Every store is different, though.

* When all else fails, buy extra papers. Of course, this would depend on what coupons are in the paper that week and if it would be worth it. If you are going to do this it might be worthwhile to see if any of your stores discount the Sunday paper the day after.
