Got a job interview coming up? Want to know some simple but key things you can do to help land the job? Whether you are a recent college graduate or looking for a more secure financial future, check these tips out for better odds of success.
1. Prepare and prepare! In this economy, finding a good job takes some advanced planning. You want to stand out from the rest by feeling calm and comfortable with some knowledge of both the company and the job.
2. Make a list of your strengths and weaknesses. Not only is this a common interview question, knowing what you have to offer and what you could work on ahead of time will help you respond to almost any question they will throw at you.
3. Make sure before you walk in the door that this is a good fit for you. Trying to bark up the wrong tree will not give you success on the career path. If you know this job is not a good fit, why are you there interviewing?
4. Market and sell… yourself. Imagine that you are a new product on the shelves. What helps you shine the most in this job? From the way you look to the way you act, you want to present yourself in the best light.
5. Bring copies of your work and resume to the interview. Even if you have provided them already with a shining resume, bring a few extra copies with you. In addition, make a folder of information or past work samples with extra copies in case it comes up in the interview. Just stash in a briefcase to keep some sense of order. It will make you look well prepared if you have them when they are needed.
6. Take a deep breath and relax!
