In a previous blog I revealed how envious I am of Rosie O’Donnell’s dedication to scrapping her children’s funniest moments. In fact, the former talk show host reportedly cranks out daily layouts featuring current events and humorous sayings her four kids share throughout the day.
Following my post I received an email from a reader who quipped: “What if your kid doesn’t say anything funny.”
My response: Stick with it. Look for inspiration by playing a game with your child or simply spend time with your son or daughter. Young kids especially often say hilarious things when you least expect them to. Ask your child to help you cook dinner. While you are fixing a dish observe how she expresses herself. I would bet big money that a few funnies slip out. Once you have the chuckles documented, you can then find creative ways to use the quotes in your next layout.
I’ve featured some of my daughter’s funniest quotes in a number of layouts. For example, the following exchange made it front and center on one page that I embellished with blueberry stickers and stamps:
After dinner conversation with my then 2-year-old upon hearing that we don’t have any more of her favorite blueberries:
Her: More booberries.
Me: Sorry honey, you ate all the blueberries.
Her: MORE booberries!
Me: We don’t have any more blueberries, sweetie.
Her: MORE BOOBERRIES!!
Me: T, if you want more blueberries I am going to have to leave you, change my clothes, get in the car, drive to the grocery store, buy the berries and drive back.
Her: Bye-bye, Mommy.
I featured this little ditty in a Christmas scrapbook:
Bringing out presents to place under our just decorated Christmas tree:
Me: Okay, get ready!
Her: Should I turn off my eyes?
What some of the funniest quotes you’ve scrapped?
