Do you remember the famous Internet dancing baby that earned itself a place on a prime time television show? And who can forget the Hamster Dance?
Well, just in case you haven’t heard of any of the sites, I present them here for you. And if you do know them, then it might be hard to pass up the opportunity to revisit them. Go ahead, have fun! And if you know any websites that you would like to see on a hall of fame blog, please send me a comment or a private message.
Dancing Baby
The dancing baby is an animated 3-D baby that is famous for dancing to the intro of Blue Swede’s cover of the song “Hooked on a Feeling.” You might remember it from the “Ooga Chaka.” It was a originally created as a demo file to show off the capabilities of the 3D modeling software program 3D Studio Max. But Internet visitors were soon hooked on this bizarre baby, and the file and links to it quickly spread through the Internet. The baby made many appearances throughout its short life in television shows from Ally McBeal to Millenium. Even the Simpsons did a spoof. These days, you can find several versions of the baby, from Alien Baby to Motor Cross Baby. Here is a link to the site by the original creators. http://burningpixel.com/Baby/BabyMus1.htm
Hamster Dance
Although Hamster Dance started as a weird phenomena about what happens when you place too many of the same animations of a web page and insert music, these little guys have become so famous that they are going Hollywood, or at least going with a Hollywood attitude. No longer just known as the Hamster Dancers, the group of furry critters has now got the name, Hampton and the Hamsters, or as the little creatures call them, Hamster Dance 2. They’ve put out some new tracks and even have a newsletter. I’m still partial to the original dance, although the loop is cut off a bit on this site.
