Wednesday’s Weekly Challenge-Lots of Circles

I saw this layout recently that I loved that involved a ton of circles. So, for this week’s challenge, I thought we could try to imitate this layout, and cut lots of circles.

To make circles, you can always use a circle cutter. However, for this project, we are going to create little circles. But, before we get to the circles, start with choosing a solid colored cardstock for your background. Then, choose one patterned paper to go over half the page. On the patterned paper, you will place your photo, or photos, and title. This will help you with the negative space that you want to achieve to get the same look as the layout above.

Finally, pick a few more patterned papers that coordinate with each other, and get to work making a lot of circles! For making small circles, I like to use coins. Quarters and nickles work best. They are small, but not too small to where you lose the pattern of the paper that you are choosing. You could also use a stencil if you have one for small circles. Cutting them out can be tedious, so if you don’t like scissor work, then stick with circles about the size of a quarter.

You want your circles to divide the page in two. Overlap the circles creating a border between the solid colored cardstock and patterned paper. Be generous in how many circles you choose so that you can get the same cluster effect shown in the layout mentioned above. Doodle around the circles by outlining them to give you a multi-dimensional look. Cut circles of different sizes to give the layout even more depth.

Circles are such a fun and easy way to add more flair to your page. They can act as embellishments, or use them to create more shape on the layout itself. Whichever way you choose to use your circles, have fun with it!
