Wednesday’s Weekly Challenge-One Photo Pages

I’ve blogged a few times about how to fit more photos on your page. For me, and many scrappers, that is challenging. However, I realize for others, it is challenging to scrapbook just one photo on a page. Maybe some think it is a waste, or you just don’t know what to do with all that negative space. For whatever reason it is difficult, this week we are going to give you a few tips on how to make your layout beautiful with only one photo on it.

First, one reason that I love to scrap just one photo on a page is that it gives that one photo the respect it deserves. I usually scrap single photo layouts when a photo is very dear to me, or the eye just cannot be taken away from it by other photos. So, if you’re wondering when to do single photo layouts, and when to do multi-photo layouts, hopefully that helps.

So, the first rule of thumb is to remember that having a spot that is blank is fine. It will give you a clean and simple look. But, when scrapping a single photo on a layout, you can also go all out and use embellishments galore! If you want to fill up the extra space, then you can try some of the following:

*Use more papers. When you have one photo on your page, it is a good opportunity to show off those cute papers that you love.

*Use more embellishments. I love embellishments, but you have to be careful not to go overboard or your page could just look like a mess. Finding the balance is hard sometimes.

*Journal a lot. One photo leaves tons of room for journaling. So, you can write about why you love that photo, or what it makes you feel when you look at it. Journaling will always make the page more special.

*Enjoy the emptiness. Sometimes keeping clean lines, and simple pages is the best way to make the most of your page.

Whatever look you like, try to keep it simple this week, and make the most of your one photo layout.
