Week in Review December 10th – 15th

What’s been going on in Movie Reviews this week? Let’s take a look and find out.

Prancer” is the story of a girl who clings to the traditions of Christmas all year long as a way to compensate for the death of her mother. When she finds a wounded reindeer in the woods, she thinks it’s Prancer, one of Santa’s own reindeer. I didn’t rate this movie very highly, I’m afraid – it had a cute premise but the execution left a lot to be desired.

With Six You Get Eggroll” is a Doris Day/Brian Keith romance about remarriage, blending two families, and trying to make it all work. Funny and sweet, I think you’ll enjoy this one.

Young Man with a Horn” stars Kirk Douglas as a young musician in the 1920s who badly wants to play jazz. When all he can find are jobs playing the same old boring music, he’s ready to give it all up, but he finds love and friendship with the band singer, played by Doris Day. We don’t get to hear her sing in “With Six You Get Eggroll,” but we do in this film.

Support Your Local Sheriff” is a spoof on the old classic westerns. James Garner plays Jason McCullough, a man who’s just passing through on his way to Australia and wants to earn some money for his trip. He applies to be the sheriff of a town with gold fever, and sets everything straight in his own unflappable way.

Beethoven’s 4th” continues the saga of the huge, drooling St. Bernard, this time with a twist on the classic story of the prince and the pauper. Beethoven gets switched with a dog who lives in the lap of luxury, and both families are changed forever as a result.

I hope you can join us next week for Movie Reviews – in the meantime, happy viewing!
