Week in Review: December 17th – 22nd

We’ve had a great week here in LDS. If you weren’t able to join us every day, here is a recap.

In “Dinner Discussions 2007 Week 46,” Miriam outlines everyone’s lessons and helps us stay on track. She also gives us a wonderful report on Elder Ballard’s talk “Faith, Family, Facts and Fruit” about the perceptions people have about the Church.

Tristi continues to catch us up on the year’s course of study in Spencer W. Kimball’s lesson “We Should Be a Reverent People.”

Do you have a favorite story from Church history? Tristi reviews “Latter-day Saint Heroes and Heroines,” a great collection of stories of faith and courage as shown by early members of the Church.

Sometimes it’s hard to see the blessing in the midst of the trial. In “Searching for Blessings,” Miriam shows us how we can find the joy in the middle of the sorrow. She also gives us some wonderful reminders of how to make the gospel more central in our home in “Loving Our Children.”

In “New Media and the Church,” Elder Ballard spoke to the students at BYU-Hawaii and encouraged them to use the tools available to us in spreading the Gospel, including faith-promoting blogs. I know a great place where you can find a whole bunch of those!

Tristi wraps up the Temple and Family History class series with “Performing Ordinances for Your Kindred Dead.” Be sure to join her in January as she starts attending Gospel Doctrine again and brings you blogs from that class. She also discusses the thoughts and feelings we have “When It’s Time to Be Released.”

The Scripture Study series continues with 1 Nephi 12:19-23 and 1 Nephi 13:1-19, with an additional look into the scripture study process in “Receiving Insight into the Scriptures.”

Miriam encourages us to look ahead to the New Year in “Family Goals for the New Year,” and she discusses things we can do now in “Christmas Traditions.”

Tristi looks at the way “Sin Affects Our Self-Esteem,” and the importance of having “A Personal Relationship with Heavenly Father,” while Miriam shares with us some fabulous “Family Home Evening Resources” and ideas for “Finding Balance” in this hectic time of the holidays.

“A Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ” is next on the list, and we see some great ideas for how to make the most of precious time in “Missionaries and Calling Home.” What a timely blog, and how needed. Miriam also suggests that we give “The Gift of Forgiveness” this year, and that we increase the Christmas spirit in our homes through the use of “Christmas Music.” We should also “Remember our Missionaries at Christmas” – this time of year can’t be easy for them.

Remembering the Sabbath” is an important part of being followers of Christ, and “Focus on the Nativity” reminds us that we truly are followers of Christ and He is the focus of the season.

It’s never too early to plan to be wise, and Miriam suggests that we soon start thinking about ways to “Plan Your Garden.” Spring will be here before we know it!

Thank you for joining us for this recap of the week in LDS. We hope you’ll be able to join us for another fun and informative week here at Families.com.
