I was surfing the Internet the other day and came across some interesting information about motivating yourself to lose weight. Will it work? I have no idea, but it may be worth a try.
If you can hold an image in your head, look at yourself in the mirror while sucking in your belly, your cheeks, whatever holds that extra weight you want to get rid of. Stare at yourself and hold that picture in your mind. Carry this image with you whenever you need a motivator to put down that cookie or to lose those last five pounds. Remind yourself, “This is how I want to look” while thinking about your sucked in self!
If you aren’t an image holder, try finding a picture of you at a desirable weight. This picture could be one taken years and years ago. What you will want to do if the picture shows you with a much younger face, is to take a headshot of you now. Paste the new headshot on over your younger head and post it in a place you will see it often. Like with the image above; just look at the skinny you in the picture in hopes of motivating yourself to get that extra weight off!
Now, how about those people who don’t have a skinny or more desirable weight picture of themselves? Never fear! This is where pictures of bodies in magazines will come in handy. Find a body type similar to what you are hoping to transform your body into. Don’t get carried away. Don’t pick a body that you know you will never be able to have. Find a body shape that looks like yours now, only thinner. Take your headshot and paste it over the face on that body. There is your motivator! Look at it when you need that extra push to keep going.
Will this picture motivation help you lose weight? You just never know unless you try! I know that Heather posted a blog not too long ago about posting a picture of yourself on the fridge or in another easy-to-see spot, but the picture of yourself is a bit different then what I am describing here. You may want to check out her blog also!
