Good afternoon and welcome to our first post for November. I found myself slow and sluggish at my workout this morning, but that’s hardly surprising. The entire day has felt a bit slow and sluggish – recovering from a holiday does that to you. We enjoyed a great Halloween last evening and though we were done with trick or treating and home by 7:30 and the kiddo was in bed by 8 – I’m still wiped out.
The Holiday Letdown
Whether it’s Thanksgiving, Christmas or Halloween — holidays are packed with anticipation that slowly builds until the actual day arrives and the holiday itself may seem somewhat anticlimactic – yet even after the candy is sorted and put away and the last trick or treater has knocked on the door – we go into recovery mode.
I spent my morning cleaning out boxes and clearing space to get ready for swapping out the decorations. We’re taking down the Halloween specific items and dressing more in a Thanksgiving and fall theme. What does all this have to do with fitness and your workout?
Simply put, you may feel slow and sluggish today, that feeling may linger into tomorrow. Don’t let it deter you from your workout. If you skipped your workout this morning, take a break right now and go for a fifteen-minute brisk walk. No matter how tired you are or how worn down you feel, that fifteen minutes of brisk walking will help you to feel better.
I took a break around lunchtime and went for a walk and I’m about to go for another one. It’s not quite my 60 minutes on the treadmill, but it’s helping me to wake up, to clarify and to focus. We’ve got a lot to do this month as we gear up for the holidays and part of my goal will be to help you stay on track with your fitness program.
With that in mind, I’d love to hear your holiday stories and how you keep on track with your fitness during this busy holiday season!
