What A Day!

Oh… my aching neck! Ever have one of those days? It’s been one of those days in the world of entertainment. Blink and you’ve missed Britney’s ride back to rehab. Blink twice and you’ve missed the judge in the Anna Nicole Smith case choking out his decision. Keep your eyes open for all the twists and turns and you’ve got one serious case of whiplash.

If you have been busy keeping track of the twists and turns in your own life and missed the continuous “Breaking News” alerts, allow me to get you up-to-date:

ANNA NICOLE’S BODY BOUND FOR THE BAHAMAS

After listening to four days of salacious testimony, the judge in the Anna Nicole Smith case interrupted today’s proceedings to render a tearful decision (yes, Judge Larry Seidlin reportedly broke down in tears and “blubbered” his decision):

“Who is entitled to custody of the remains of Anna Nicole Smith?” Seidlin wrote in his ruling. “There can be only one proper and equitable answer to that question: Dannielynn, Anna Nicole Smith’s only child, heir and next of kin.”

Basically, the judge awarded Smith’s body to Richard Milstein, the court-appointed lawyer for 5-month-old Dannielynn who then announced that the former Playboy playmate would be buried in the Bahamas alongside her son. No timeframe for the burial was given.

Seidlin told the lawyers in the case that he had to speed up the process after he got word from the medical examiner that Smith’s body was rapidly decomposing.

BRITNEY IN REHAB

She’s in… for now. How long Britney Spears will remain in rehab is still up in the air. (My co-blogger Libby and I are still rubbing our necks after this one…) What we know for sure is that Kevin Federline’s emergency court appearance to dispute a temporary child custody arrangement was cancelled today after it was confirmed that his soon-to-be ex-wife re-entered a rehabilitation program. According to news reports, Spears’ mother escorted her to the Promises Malibu drug and alcohol rehabilitation center last night. It’s the same center Spears fled from earlier this week.

TV’s “Access Hollywood” also reported that Spears and Federline agreed Wednesday night that he would take care of their two young sons while she was in rehabilitation, which could last between 30 and 45 days.
