Did you wake up before dawn reciting your attack strategy in your head as you dressed for the biggest shopping day of the year? Were you one of the brave ones who fearlessly faced the crowds vying for great gifts at unbelievable prices? If so, I hope it was all you expected.
I’m taking the day off not only from Black Friday but also from housework. I have no houseguests this year, so cleaning will be minimal and there are plenty of leftovers so while some warming up may occur, there will be no cooking.
I am going to eat a turkey sandwich on rye for lunch (or maybe I’ll have a piece of pie) and dinner will be a rerun from yesterday. We’ll set up a quick buffet of all the goodies and everybody can help themselves. There will be Chinet instead of China, Dixie cups instead of dish-washing.
Doesn’t it sound fabulous? Don’t get me wrong, I love to cook and take care of my family. However, today, I’m going to relax and enjoy some time with them, playing games, watching movies, reading a story… I might even color.
If you have been out braving the door buster sales early this day, what do you plan on doing after your nap? Does your family have an after Thanksgiving routine, or is it pretty much play it by ear? Do you start decorating right away for Christmas? I am not even ready to think about it yet. I have no intention of putting up the tree today, especially since I may not even get around to putting away the Thanksgiving decorations.
Have fun whether you decide to shop ‘til drop, eat ‘til you pop, or put up the tree.
Now, I think it’s time for that pie, or should I have turtle cheesecake?
