Scrapbooking like any hobby, requires planning, work and goal setting. Every year at the New Year I set goals for myself during the year. I strive to make them manageable goals so that I can feel as if I have obtained something and succeeded. Usually in the summer I review my goals and alter what I need to make them more realistic. With the New Year only two and a half months away, I started thinking about my goals for next year.
My priorities are different now. I am still an avid scrapbooker and photographer, but I am also a writer, and I spend much more time doing that then anything. I have gotten better at practicing my writing through journaling on my scrapbook pages. That helps tremendously.
So what kinds of goals to you set for yourself?
When I think about goal setting and scrapbooking, I try to make my goals reflect many aspects of the industry and not just “I want to get a million pages done”.
I try to set goals that reflect on getting something finished, I want to learn new techniques, I want to try out old techniques and make them new again, I want to try out and use new products, I might even set a goal to complete gifts or something of that aspect.
I don’t have my heart set on getting my scrapbook layouts published, I’m more interested in getting my novel published, however I think it would be cool if I did.
What goals did you set for yourself this year? Have you completed any of them yet? You still have two and a half months left to get them completed. Is it time to revamp them a little?
Can you think of an easier goal, perhaps spending less time on a scrapbook page, or trying out a new product?
It isn’t too late to finish your 2007 goals. When you are finished, you can already start planning your 2008 goals. I will check in on you in January.
