By substituting free items and services for the things that you are currently paying for, you can rack up plenty of savings. Save money without changing your lifestyle or making sacrifices.
If you look around, you might be surprised at all of the things that you can get for free! Here are some examples.
Entertainment
Ditch the $200 cable bill and the money you spend on tickets with free entertainment. Many communities, schools and businesses offer free entertainment throughout the year. From free museum admissions to music concerts, to nature walks, to book readings, to kids activities, to movies and more, there is so much free entertainment out there.
By the same effort, watch television and movies online, take out free movies and even video games from the library and borrow movies from friends to make this a zero cost line item in your budget.
Household Products
Get plenty of free household products for your home. You can start with samples. There are usually plenty of shampoo, lotion and feminine products to try for free just by signing up. Use coupons and sales to get other items for free from your local drugstores and grocery stores.
Let friends and family know that you would be more than happy to take products that they tried and didn’t like or have no more use for. The items will come pouring in to your home and you can reduce the amount you spend on cleaning items, clothing and even furniture.
Exercise
Are you paying for an expensive gym membership or do you have your eye on some exercise equipment? Here is how you can knock out that expense.
First, give up the gym membership and take advantage of the outdoors. There is plenty of free exercise opportunities just outside your door. You can exercise on park equipment, take a walk or a jog, do yard work, etc. I’ve been known to hike around my house when I couldn’t leave home.
If the weather puts you off, take out some free videos from the library and use them to fill in on days when you can’t go out.
Finally, look for free exercise equipment on Freecycle.
