Even in the world of business, we all have our triggers. We might be completely clear-minded in certain areas and able to use wisdom and experience to make good decisions–but there may be other areas where our judgment can get clouded and we are not as focused and objective. I think it helps to do a little self-discovery in order to determine what those triggers are that cloud our judgment when it comes to our home businesses. This way, we can be on the look-out and make some accommodations when we lose our objectivity.
As I mentioned earlier–we ALL have our triggers. Some of us are able to stay cool under pressure, while others of us crumble. Some of us love working under a deadline and having specific goals to achieve and timelines to meet–and others of us have a hard time staying focused if there is too much that has to be done under a time crunch. Knowing what sort of person you are and what working conditions you work best in–can help you to identify when you might not be at your best and what sort of things actually cause you to make poor decisions in your business.
Of course, this journey of self-discovery involves being able to take a long, hard look at oneself. Many of us don’t want to admit that we have those triggers–let alone that we might ever succumb to poor judgment in our business operations. But, don’t our home businesses NEED us to know when we are at our best, and when our judgment is likely to be clouded? Are there certain customers or clients that get you flustered? Is it tough for you to see things clearly in the early mornings or late in the afternoon? Do things start to slip off your “plate” when you get too many things on there? Knowing what clouds your judgment can help you do a better job in running your home business.
