What Does Crystal Liechty Like to Read?

Crystal Liechty is a new author on the LDS scene. Her book, β€œThe First Year,” was published by Cedar Fort in 2006. It’s the story of Beth, who is a newlywed, married just a year, and is still adjusting to being a wife. Her husband is wonderful and she thinks she has everything. But when her ex-boyfriend shows up in her life again, she wonders if she made the right decision. Crystal says that the story was inspired by her own experiences.

To continue our look into what authors like to read, I asked Crystal for a list, and here is what she said:

“Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen – national romance

“Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand — national literary

“Nine Stories” by J.D. Salinger –national literary

Man and his Symbols” by Carl Jung — national philosophy

“The Shopaholic Series” by Sophie Kinsella — national chick lit

“Uglies” by Scott Westerfield — national young adult

“The Ender series” by Orson Scott Card — national science fiction

Lost Boys” by Orson Scott Card — national supernatural suspense

Till We Have Faces” by C.S. Lewis — national apologetic

“Freakonomics” by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner — national economics

“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time” by Mark Haddon — national satirical murder mystery

“Wives and Daughters” by Elizabeth Gaskill — national literary

“The Interpretation of Fairy Tales” by Marie Louise Von Franz — national reference

And I thought my reading tastes were wide and varied –Crystal has me completely beat!

In addition to being an author, Crystal is also a new mommy, adding a beautiful baby boy to her family. She’s also working on a new novel – you can read about it on her website.

Thanks for your list, Crystal; it was fun to learn about so many new books.
