What does exercise do for you?

Regular exercise relaxes tense muscles, helps people sleep well and releases endorphins, adrenalin, serotonin and dopamine. Exercise not only improves physical well being, but it also has been found to:

  • Reduce Stress
  • Relieve Anxiety
  • Enhance Self-Esteem
  • Reduce Depression
  • Strengthens the Heart
  • Improves Lung Capacity
  • Lowers Cholesterol
  • Lowers Blood Pressure
  • Supports Weight Loss Efforts
  • Supports Weight Maintenance
  • Boosts the Immune System

The question should not be what does exercise do for you but why don’t I exercise more often?

When you engage in physical exercise you are engaging in an activity that is beneficial to the whole concept of your mind, body and spirit. W

Your exercise choices should be fun and you should experience not only the enjoyment of knowing what you are doing for yourself, but also the excitement of the activities themselves. Whether you prefer sports or gym equipment, finding the right exercise is as important to your overall health.

Exercise, like the stress that it reduces, should be unique to the individual. Find an activity or combination of activities you enjoy and participate in it regularly.

If you need some suggestions consider:

  • Dancing
  • Basketball
  • Swimming
  • Walking or Running
  • Weight Training
  • Yoga or Pilates
  • Fitness Ball Workouts
  • Landscaping

You should consult a doctor before beginning an exercise regimen and for people who haven’t exercised regularly in years, always start slow and with easy exercises so that you return to it.
