Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a cast member at one of the Disney parks or resorts? Maybe you think this would be an ideal job? Disney employs a great many individuals in various capacities from vendors to characters to performers and much, more. Well, if you’ve ever been curious, there are now resources that will allow you to check out what does go on behind the scene with the hardworking men and women who make up the Disney cast members.
We Are Disney is the name of the website and it was launched by the Service Trades Council Union that makes up one of the unions that represent the Disney employees. You can read feature profiles about the cast members and their struggles to live their own lives while making dreams come true for the millions of visitors that come to the parks every year.
A Little More Nitty Gritty
The site also features a study that was released recently called the Walt Disney World’s Hidden Costs: The Impact of Disney’s Wage Structure on the Greater Orlando Area. There are 29,000 service workers employed at Walt Disney World and that makes Disney World a huge employer – many times when we talk about Disney and the magic of Disney, we don’t think about the individuals who are employed there and maybe that would tarnish the magic to know more about it – but I know many people who might be curious and this website answers a lot of those questions.
Visitor’s Page
Finally, the website also offers a visitor’s page that lets you keep up to date on any contract talks that may potentially impact your visit to Walt Disney World. I can’t say with any certainty that there has ever been a strike of cast members at one of the Disney parks, but now I’m curious so I’m going to be checking it out.
