We see so much about the negatives and sad stories of marriages that I thought I’d tell you some of the things I love about being married. Maybe you’ll agree with some of them.
I love that after all these years, I’d still rather be with him than anyone else and I know he feels the same about me.
I love going to bed and curling up together at night and waking up with him still there in the morning wrapped together. When we first got married, Mick found whenever he moved over I did too, till he was balanced on the edge. One time he got out of bed and came back around and hopped in the other side. In a flash I scooted over next to him.
I love that we’re friends as well as lovers. I love that he listens to me and cares what I have to say and that I can listen to him and we can talk about our time spent apart, even if he’s only been out in the garden or in another room. I love that the things I would never dream of saying to anyone else, I can tell him and know he’s not going to criticize, judge me or try and change me.
I love that we enjoy spending time together whether it’s watching footy, playing a board game, out on a picnic with family, shopping, walking on the beach or just around the neighborhood, sitting chatting or watching a DVD. It doesn’t matter what we do, so long as it’s together. I’ve discovered since he’s had a tendonitis in the foot and can’t walk or play tennis that I don’t like walking on my own. Even going to tennis is not near as much fun when he’s not there to talk with. I especially like playing with him on the tennis court. We combine well together because we know how each other thinks and what we’re likely to do.
I love it even when we disagree because I know it won’t last long and things will soon be back to normal and he’s not going to leave me because we had an argument and don’t always agree.
I’d love to hear some of your thoughts about what you love about being married.
