What I Love about Being Married

I hear so many people making wisecracks about marriage and it annoys me. I hear them making negative comments about it, so I thought I‘d share with you some of the things I love about being married.

I love that close relationship of knowing that one person knows me so well and still loves me regardless. No-one except for God knows me better than my husband but he still loves me in spite of all my faults, and there are plenty of them, and sometimes he even loves me because of them.

I love that we can share special times together and the everyday. I love the memories of so many years and events, big and small, that we have built together and the way having been married young, we’ve almost grown up together. He is so much a part of my life as I am of his. It’s almost hard to remember a time when we didn’t know each other.

I love that he shows an interest in the things I do, as I do with things he does, even though our interests are very different in some areas. But they are close enough in other areas that there plenty of things we love doing together. Yesterday was an example. Since the weather had turned cool I played tennis with some other friends. He plays tennis too, but he hates playing in the afternoon. So off I went, and then when I came home we were able to spend time together playing a game and chatting, cooking dinner. He cut up most of the vegetables while I was cooking others. Later in the evening we watched a DVD – nothing momentous, just relaxing and enjoying being together.

Whether you’ve been married a short time or a long time, I’d love to hear what you love about being married too.
