What is Prana Therapy?

Prana means energy or life force in Sanskrit. In other Eastern philosophies, this concept is also known as chi or qi. Prana Therapy is an ancient healing technique based on healing disease through the life energy of the body.

The belief is that disease results from imbalances in the body. Prana therapy works to bring the body back into balance by manipulating the chakras. The chakras are energy centers located throughout the body that guide prana through the body from the spine through the top of the head.

Imbalances in the chakras are created by emotions and negative thought patterns. This is believed to be the root cause of disease. Through prana therapy, the body is brought back into balance for healing the body, mind and spirit.

There are many techniques used in prana therapy. Techniques, such as Reiki are used to assist the flow of prana in the body. Holistic therapies, such as neuro linguistic programming or other balancing therapies are also used to remove emotional blockages in the mind to get rid of negative thought patterns and allow the body and mind to repair.

Since the goal of prana therapy is to restore balance in the body, there are aspects of the therapy that involve diet, rest and relaxation. Eating the right nutrients, getting enough sleep and relaxation are essential to balance and not getting enough of any of these things will result in the body being out of balance.

When the life energy is able to move freely through the body, the cause of the pain or disease is treated. Since ancient times, people have found prana therapy to be effective for headaches, neck pain, back ache, digestive symptoms, and many other symptoms.

Rather than merely treating the symptom, such as taking medications for migraine, prana therapy is a comprehensive treatment for the body and mind. Prana therapy offers relief from illness through letting go of negative thought patterns and creating a positive attitude change to encourage the flow of energy in the body and heal the body and spirit.
