This entry was going to start off on new developments of those deployed, but after reading an article I can’t help but feel compelled to write about it. I know many won’t agree with my thoughts but we all have our own opinion right? I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way.
How many of you have watched a movie with your spouse or even a television show that portrayed a service member? I’m sure at least once if not many more times. What about the flaws you were sure to have seen or just the fact they had a certain type of uniform on when they shouldn’t have? I’ve seen a few, when my husband sees this he gets a bit irritated stating it is disrespectful. How do you feel?
Currently there is a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force getting in trouble for posing for…Playboy! Playboy of all places. Can you picture it? Okay, I can’t, not when I know what the uniform represents. I know many got upset with Sarah Smiley once had a picture of herself wearing a cover and that was just a cover not her in Playboy. Apparently the issue will hit any day if it already hasn’t, it was for the February issue and has her posing with guns. Eeeekk, I can only imagine the heat she got over this one. The article states she has been relieved of her duties until a full investigation. I say, she probably knew the outcome but couldn’t resist being in those pages.
Would you do it? Whether you are in the military yourself or not? If you aren’t an active duty would you wear your spouse’s uniform to pose for this? Granted, she really wasn’t in a full uniform. Keep in mind this isn’t all about her posing naked and representing the military but she also trains with many of the men that will probably read this article in Playboy. While I’m all for a person expressing their individuality, I do believe there is a limit. If you are in a position where people look up to you think about how that will look to them.
