My little guy turned eight months old just a week ago. I am amazed at how quickly the time is flying. I remember writing my post about him turning 6-months old, and that was two months ago!
We have been experiencing some changes around here with a baby that loves to crawl and is on the go constantly. I told a friend that once they learn to crawl, I would almost rather them be able to walk because they are mobile anyway, but they are dying to be able to walk. Especially when babies have older siblings to watch run around. I can see it in his eyes that he wants to be part of the fun!
He is also going through a stage where he wants his mama all the time. While that makes me feel good, it can also be exhausting. On our most recent trip, he would tolerate others holding him, but was constantly reaching for me, and wanting to be back in my arms. It is a good feeling, that’s for sure, but sometimes, you feel like you just need a break.
He is experimenting with talking. My husband swears he started saying “dada” at about 6 months old, but now, we are starting to see a shift where his speech is becoming more deliberate. We have been trying to teach him how to say “bye bye” and he will do it occasionally after us. I can tell he is figuring it out. One babble at a time.
His sleep still leaves a lot to be desired, but I don’t really expect much more at this age. I am thankful though that he is only waking up once or twice at night. That is a big change from before when we were up every couple of hours.
He is learning how to coordinate his fingers to pick up tiny things. That becomes a hazard! So, we work hard on keeping the floors picked up as much as possible. He is like a little vacuum. Cleaning my floors with his tummy, and picking everything up and putting it into his mouth.
He is at such a fun stage to interact with. He is smiling at us non-stop. Loves to play games like peek-a-boo, and he thinks it is so fun when we sing.
Eating is a challenge. The progression of solid foods is slow. We are trying to be consistent, but it seems like he isn’t. Some days he wants solids, and other days he doesn’t care about it at all.
This stage is all about taking one day at a time. At least that is what we are trying to do with our little babe. What is your 8 month old up to?
Compare what your baby is like to mine at 4 months, 5 months, 6 months, and 7 months!
