We all have excuses. It doesn’t matter if you work outside the home, from home, or around the home; we are all busy and we all run out of time to get things done. In all honesty, there are many times when we just don’t feel like doing the things we know we should, and we manage to come up with lots of excuses.
Sure, there are legitimate reasons, and some days are more hectic than others are. Still, when we frequently find reasons not to do something rather than just getting it done, it’s time to stop fooling ourselves, get up off of our bottoms, and get busy.
There Just Aren’t Enough Hours in the Day
We are all guilty of saying this at one time or another, especially me. This one is my personal favorite. To tell the truth, there are an ideal number of hours in every day. An Old Italian folk song sums up the perfect day, “work eight hours, sleep eight hours, and have eight hours of fun.” If only it were that easy!
If you’re anything like me, you work more than eight hours, sleep less than eight, and have no idea where all that fun went. It’s a matter of prioritizing and organizing. We can get most of the things we need to do done, if we don’t get sidetracked. I get bored easily, so keeping my priorities straight and organizing my periods of free time are challenges for me.
I Need More Help
Alas, I’m guilty of this one too. I really do need more help, but I don’t always ask for help or don’t accept offers of assistance as often as I should. I guess I have a little issue with control… I want things done a certain way. I know other moms that won’t let family members lift a finger around the home, because they just know things won’t get done the “right way.” We have to relax our standards and accept help sometimes. If the towels aren’t folded perfectly, so be it.
So, what’s your favorite excuse?
