What Kind of Patient is Your Husband?

This is the time of year when sickness is booming. Stomach viruses, flu, bronchitis, and colds are flaring in schools and throughout the entire community. Nothing is worse than having one of these illnesses cycle through your family. And if it is not bad enough to go through one of them, when the immune system is down, families can go through two or even three sicknesses within days or weeks.

Having a sick family can run a mom wild. Moms often do have time to feel bad or get sick themselves. Within one week, every member of a family can make a visit to the doctor. This has happened with my family. I went and received my shots and my medicine but yet have found the time to through in the resting part that I need.

Both of my children have been sick at different times. My youngest, my son, is now going through his second round of illness. He began the cycle and hopefully will also end it.

My husband has been sick for three days now. Most every woman will tell you that she had much rather care for a sick child than a sick man. Children usually make much better patients. They complain less and bounce back quicker. Almost every person that has asked about my family’s sickness has commented on the fact that husbands make such bad patients for wives to care for. Even men have made the comment to me or commented with some term such as “oh no” when I mention my husband’s illness.

I will have to say that in most cases I would agree that a sick man is worse than any sick person, however this time my husband has been a trooper. While he has not felt like helping out much with the children, he has not demanded a lot of my attention. He has basically locked himself in the bedroom.

So what kind of patient is your husband?
