In one of my last articles I began discussing wedding planners. For most typical average weddings, a wedding planner is not a must. However if the wedding is large and considered to be a major event, a wedding planner may be needed.
The last article gave insight on exactly what a wedding planner is and what a wedding planner does.
While researching wedding planners I noticed that several programs are available to train persons to be a wedding planner. I also found some basic guidelines on qualities that make good wedding planners.
Wedding planners take on the stress for the couple. The wedding planner must be able to remain and act in control at all times. The wedding planner must be a person that thinks quickly and that can handle sticky situations. For example a wedding planner must be able to keep everything together when the groom is late, the cake falls apart, and the ice sculpture melts.
A good wedding planner must also be a good businessperson. After all, the wedding planner must carry out all of the wedding business deals. The planner should be able to effectively negotiate deals with florists, caterers, photographers, musicians, and more.
A wedding planner should be able to manage finances. Most wedding planners are given a budget for the wedding by the bride and groom. The wedding planner must try to meet the demands of the couple and still remain in the budget.
Successful wedding planners are also trendy. They must keep up to date on the latest wedding styles. This includes dresses, music, decoration, and more. The wedding planner must have a sense of fashion and be able to visualize how a room should be decorated or used for the wedding.
Most wedding planners are paid according to the cost that is put into the wedding. Planning less expensive weddings will cost the couple less when it comes to paying the wedding planner. The typical fee for wedding planners is about 15 percent of the cost of the wedding.
