In my last blog I touched on living lives that are pleasing to the Lord. If we want to please the Lord, we first need to figure out and learn those things that are pleasing to Him, Ephesians 5:10. Fortunately God helps us through His Word and He tells us those attitudes and action that please Him. Here is a list of the attitudes and actions that please God.
If we believe in Jesus, John 3:16, 18
If we love Jesus, John 16:27
If we keep His commandments, John 14:21, 1 John 2:3-5
If we abide in Him and walk as Jesus walked, I John 2:6, 1 John 3:24
Do the things that Jesus did which are always pleasing to God, John 8:29
Being filled with the spirit and praising God in thankfulness and song, Ephesians 5:18-20
Proper family relationships as outlined in Ephesians 5:22-33, Colossians 3:18-24
The way we handle ourselves with those outside the church – with gentleness, grace, and wisdom, making the most of opportunities, Colossians 4:5-6.
Loving and serving others and putting their needs above our own, 1 John 3:16-18
Doing good and sharing what we have, Hebrews 13:16
Praising God and having a heart filled with thankfulness, Psalm 50: 23, Hebrews 13:15
Doing His will and allowing His Spirit to work in us, Hebrews 13:21
God is not pleased with meaningless sacrifice. What does please Him is a broken and contrite heart, Psalm 51:17
Generosity – God loves a cheerful giver, 2 Corinthians 9:7.
Practice righteousness, 1 John 3:7, 10
As you look at you life how do you measure up? Are you living a life that is pleasing to God or are you still pleasing yourself?
I’m sure all of us have found areas where we could improve. The thing now is to confess our shortcomings to God and ask His help in living a life that is more pleasing to Him.
You may be able to think of other areas to add to this list of pleasing God. I’s love to hear them.
