The Following is part 1 of a two part series on the lies of Satan and how he would have us believe:
- Deny that Jesus is who the Bible claims Him to be. Jesus is the Son of God; God manifested in the flesh (see 1 Timothy 3:16). In believing Jesus is not who He claims in the Bible to be, it would make a liar out of Him; it would make the Bible not truth, and our faith in vain.
- Deny the Power of God still moves today. By not believing that God can guide us, comfort us, heal us and answer prayer today, what’s the point of trusting in Him and keeping faith except out of religious repetition that goes nowhere? Satan would rather have us keep our eyes closed to the power of God.
- Question the accuracy of the Bible. “It’s been translated so many times,” one might argue, “how do we know that man didn’t make mistakes?” If the Bible is inaccurate, I do not believe in my heart that God would condemn believers as He knows it’s our Holy Book for our lives and we would be unknowing to the changes. However, with the exception of some punctuation brought into Greek language, the translation of the Bible has been done with holy fear and, I believe, the watch of the Holy Spirit. Scholars have studied and found physical evidence of Biblical claims. Though many have worked to find error, they truly have not been successful.
- A person who has supernatural “spiritual” gifts is of God. I must include this to balance out my previous point. Though I believe there are people today with spiritual gifts from the Lord to be used for His purpose, I do not believe all the things that some Christians follow today are of God. Satan is crafty and deceptive. He comes as an angel of light. It only takes one wrong prophecy for a prophet to be proven illegitimate (see Deuteronomy 18:22).
“Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never new you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” (Matthew7:22-24)
“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” (2 Corinthians 11:13-15)
“For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” (Matthew 24:24)
“The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders…” (2 Thessalonians 2:9)
We need to be so aware of the enemy’s mission to rob steel and destroy. He is full of hate for God and us. It is so critical that we know the Bible, because even Satan knows the Bible; if we aren’t knowledgeable in scripture and heed only the words of man, we will be deceived. Please check out my second part to this blog where I’ll continue to reveal some of Satan’s lies.
