If you have ever wondered what you should having in your first aid kit then you are in luck. I have a great list of items right here for you! it always helps to be prepared, whether you have to deal with a minor scrape or a major burn.
This is part 2 of the series. If you missed the first part of the list, just click here to catch up.
Bottled Water
Bottled water is a good idea to have in a first aid kit, and probably not for the reason that you think. You’ll want to be able to use bottled water to rinse a wound if there is no running water available. Whether or not to include this one will depend on how likely you are not to have access to clean water. Since we live in a home with a well that relies on electricity, having bottled water in the kit is essential.
Breathing Barrier
A breathing barrier is usually a plastic shield that can be folded and disposed after use. It is used to protect people when CPR needs to be administered by a stranger. This is one of those calls you have to make about including a breathing barrier. You may not decide that you need one, but they are usually pretty cheap and small enough to have around. You can usually find them in pharmacies or through the Red Cross website.
Cold Compress
While ice is nice, having an instant cold compress in your first aid kit ensures that you can react quickly in a situation, and there is no drippy wash cloths, and the chance of an accidental frost nip to deal with on top of the injury is reduced. Instant cold compresses are simply snapped or hit to mix the chemicals inside. When my son recently fell while ice skating, one of these compresses came in very hand.
