Daylight savings time ends November fourth — so we’re headed back to Standard time. Spring ahead, fall back. That means we’re getting an extra hour in the day on November fourth. What are you planning to do with the time?
- Many people choose to snooze away the extra hour. If you’re a little behind on sleep, November fourth may be a good day to try to catch up.
- Make a point of contacting someone you haven’t heard from in a long time. Use your extra hour for some phone time or to send a few e-mails.
- Enjoy breakfast in bed with your family. Curl up together, watch a favorite movie, and dig into a healthy indoor picnic. Serve up fresh fruit, whole wheat pancakes or waffles, and tea.
- Start planning your next vacation. Read the travel section of the local paper or cruise your favorite internet travel sites.
- Take the hour to work on your favorite hobby or craft — or learn a new one!
- Get some alone time — soak in the tub, curl up with your favorite book, or listen to your favorite music.
- Treat yourself to a little pampering at your favorite spa! Go for a massage, a facial, or another body treatment.
- Think of your extra hour as a pre-New Year’s and make some resolutions. What would you like to change? What would you like to do better?
- Go out and play! Take the family to the nearest playground, or plug in your favorite interactive video game and get moving.
Okay, so that extra hour actually does appear in the middle of the night, and we’ll probably sleep through it. But that doesn’t mean you can’t take an hour out of the rest of the day for something special! Whether you choose family time or a little self-pampering, pick something important.
