What to Expect on Day Two at Story@Home 2013

book Are you going to attend the Story@Home 2013 conference? You can buy a ticket that will give you access to both days of the conference. Or, you can buy a ticket for just one day. Which day will you choose? Here is some information about what to expect on Day Two of Story@Home 2012. This should help you decide.

Story@Home is an annual conference. It is designed to teach genealogists how to collect their family stories, how to preserve them, and how to share them with others. You can learn how to incorporate your family history into your genealogy research. This is a good way to connect with living family members, too.

You can attend both days of the conference if you want to. Or, you can choose to attend for just one day. Should you pick Day One, or Day Two? To help you decide, I will briefly go over some of what you can expect to find on Day Two of the conference. A previous blog will walk you through what Day One has to offer.

Day Two of Story@Home 2013 will happen on February 2, 2013. It will start with welcome and intro remarks from Carol Rice and Steve Anderson. One keynote presentation speaker will be Bob Evans. The website doesn’t say exactly what topic he will present. Another keynote speaker, Jyl Pattee, will present “And the Moral of Your Story is…?”. After the break, Bil Lepp will do a Storyteller Performance.

After lunch, there will be three blocks of workshops for you to attend. In each block, you will have to choose between three or four options. They will happen simultaneously, so you have to select the one that is most interesting to you. Some workshops will appeal more to genealogists than others will.

For the first block, I would suggest checking out “The Art of Family History Story Development”, which will be presented by Mike Hall. Learn how to develop a story about your ancestor from conception, research, documentation, and finish. Use material you discovered in your genealogy research.

For the second block, I would suggest attending “Creating Family History Traditions” by Veronica Johnson. Explore simple, everyday, ways to help your family see the joy of being together and sharing memories. You will learn new ways to interact with your family and ways to make great memories.

For the third block, “Adapting to a New Normal”, by Teresa and Taralyn Clark, sounds interesting! Learn how to use story to help you and your family adapt amidst chaos, illness, and the challenges and changes of life. The fourth block has only one option. It is the Closing Remarks for the Story@Home 2013 conference. It will be presented by Kim Weitkamp, Bil Lepp, Teresa Clark, and Carol Rice.
