Our exploration of three top Goodwill stores in our area was quite an event for our family. It had been many years since I had visited one, and it was in a different location. As a whole, we were both surprised and amazed at the variety of items and the condition of them. There were so many useful things and the price was so amazing, it was well worth the trips.
Here are a few more departments that most Goodwill stores have.
Accessories
We found a huge amount of accessories to fit your every need. For men there were belts, ties and hats and there were dozens to choose from. While there were a few that I had to wonder who might ever wear, there were some really great finds. In the women’s accessory department there were plenty of great finds. Belts, Silk Scarves, Hats, Jewelry, Purses, Totes. You name it, we found it. From top name brands to the lesser brands, everything was pretty much accounted for, and the prices were all under $10 with most ranging in the $5 or less range. We were really pleased with what we found.
Luggage
For whatever reason I was surprised to find luggage at Goodwill. I have no idea why, because its another one of those items that people will get rid of from time to time and where else but donating it to Goodwill. There was a pretty large selection at two of the Goodwill stores we visited. Most of it was in great shape and looked almost new, which is rare for luggage since the airlines like to play frisbee with it. There were also plenty of antique pieces, the old trunk like versions. These are great for antique collectors and the prices were so low, you could buy tons of them.
Kitchenware
When I saw this section I had no idea what to expect. For some reason, the idea of sharing kitchen items seemed to bother me more than any other department. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was everything in excellent condition, it was clean, many items were brand new and some still in their original boxes and the selection was amazing. Our Goodwill had three whole aisles dedicated to kitchen items and they had everything from dishes to small appliances.
