What You Shouldn’t Do

While there are some things you should always do when it comes to fitness, there are many things you shouldn’t. I talk a lot about starting off small, working your way into an exercise program and changing things up.

But today we are going to look at some things you shouldn’t do. For instance, you should never skip breakfast.

Experts have been saying it for years. It is one of the most important meals of the day. It can provide just the energy you need, as it kick starts your metabolism.

I like to exercise in the morning but I’m not always hungry before I do. However, I don’t want to workout on an empty stomach so about half an hour before I jump into my routine, I eat a banana. It provides just what I need.

Then about a half hour to an hour after working out, I eat breakfast. Between the physical activity and eating a healthy breakfast, it gives me a great start to my day.

The next thing you shouldn’t do is too much. You can actually workout so much that your body isn’t able to properly recover. Yes, there can be too much of a good thing.

You shouldn’t set unrealistic goals. When you start off by saying, “I want to lose 50 pounds,” you are reaching too high. While that may be your end goal, start with short-term goals you can reach; for instance, losing one or two pounds each week.

Finally, you shouldn’t compare yourself or your workout routine to someone else’s. Sometimes when I am on Facebook and I read about someone spending 45 minutes at the gym, I can get discouraged. Or if I hear about all this weight someone has suddenly dropped, it can cause me to look negatively at my own results.

You are unique, with your own goals to be met. Don’t worry about what others are doing. Keep pressing on and you will accomplish what needs to be done in your own life.
