Do you have a favorite color when it comes to home decorating? Some people are very passionate about color as evidenced by their décor. Vibrant colors dance throughout their homes, punching up every possible accent. Others like color but use it more sparingly. Some are even afraid of color.
Do you choose colors based on current trends, or based on your own personal tastes? I’ve never been much of a conformist, and while I like many of the current styles, I still tend to choose things more because they appeal to me than because they are “in.”
I like color, but my tastes are changing as I get older. For example, I never cared much for greens in the past. While I’m still not big on Kelly Green, I have become quite fond of sagey greens and similar tones. I know some people will say these are technically neutrals, but they still give a space more punch than say beige does. I find these tones of green calming, relaxing. They also work well with deeper, richer tones such as burnt red, and they are great with any contrasting neutral.
I am currently in the process of deciding how I want to redecorate my master bedroom and bath and I’m leaning towards rich, soothing greens to help me create a comfy, spa like retreat.
I guess for me, like many other people, it depends most on which space I am working in which color I prefer. I’m not big on whimsical or bright colors in main living areas, although they’re great in the kitchen, kid’s rooms, playrooms, etc.
If I had to choose just one, an overall favorite, I guess the obvious choice would be a deep sage green. So, what about you? Do you like color? Do you have a favorite color or perhaps more than one?
