“When Good People Have Affairs”

Oh wow! Is this ever a new one in the books of marriage advice? Just recently author, Mira Kirshenbaum publishes what just may be one of the most controversial marriage books ever!

Kirshenbaum is using her over 30 years of experience as a marriage therapist to conclude that indeed an affair may be just what a marriage needs!

Yes you read it right!

The title of her book, “When Good People Have Affairs” actually points out positive aspects that affairs can have on a marriage.

While we all know that some marriages can indeed survive an affair and become stronger from it, Kirshenbaum is taking even a different stand point. In her book she insists that in most cases it is best to never own up to and confess to having an affair.

While she states that she is not encouraging partners to have an affair, she does make quiet a comparison of affairs and medical conditions. Kirshenbaum states:

You could think of it as a radical but necessary medical procedure. If your marriage is in cardiac arrest, an affair can be a defibrillator.

The book is not to be directed to those out there who are maliciously having affairs in hopes that their spouse will never find out. She says her book is directed toward the people out there who have had an affair and learned from it. They feel terrible about what happened and she hopes to give them some peace.

To these people, Kirshenbaum gives the advice that it is still best not to confess but yet to just make it a priority to be as honest and committed to the rest of the relationship. She feels that confession can lead to even more troubles and cause more unneeded damage to the relationship.

There has already been some controversy over the book. I feel that once it is on the shelves, there will be even more hot discussions to come.
