For the past several weeks I have been spotlighting summer travel bargains designed for cash strapped families. (Believe it or not there are a number of outstanding deals to be had.) But what if you never had to worry about the price of a plane ticket or how much it would cost to fill up the family minivan for a summer trip to Six Flags?
For most people the idea of spending $100,000 on a family getaway is unthinkable. Yet, there are some clans out there who don’t think twice about dropping a hundred grand on a trip of a lifetime (or in some cases a trip-of-the-month). A $100,000 vacation may be pure fantasy to you, but not for the folks at American Express. The credit card company recently offered its cardholders a $98,000 around-the-world trip, which took up to 52 guests by private jet to eight destinations on five continents.
But American Express is not the only one offering ultra-luxe travel packages. The Casa Triton, a super swanky villa on the coast of Rincon Careyes, Mexico, is currently renting six bedrooms for five days for a cool $100,000. The package includes a staff of butlers, drivers and maids as well as polo lessons, sunset massages and five-course meals.
High-end travelers can also choose another $100,000 itinerary. It’s designed for wealthy hobby photographers and includes flying to secluded destinations by private plane over the course of 16 days and it comes with an exclusive perk: the assistance of a National Geographic photographer during a private safari in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve.
One hundred thousand dollars will also get you a chartered yacht that will take you and dozens of your friends to isolated places like the Aegean. The same amount of money will also cover the cost for you to rent a private island in the Caribbean.
Not bad if you can afford it.
Where would you travel to if you had $100,000 to spare?
